I was just having lunch with my co-workers. The topic of discussion was the Coronavirus. People are becoming more nervous about it now. I can imagine panic setting in once the death toll in America increases.

It’s only a matter of time before a celebrity is reported having the Coronavirus

We actually have the first (2nd league but anyway) pro soccer player positive and we've had the first matches without people in the stadiums. German Icehockey league has cancelled its play offs; for the very first time there will be no champion this year.
In my daughhter's class is a boy whose father has tested positive today so yes, it's only a question of days until this will be REALLY close to home.

Merkel said that up to 70% of the German population is likely to get the virus.

Big public gathering places need to temporarily close. But they won't because of the $$$. I am talking about Disney, Dollywood, concerts, etc. The biggest problem is that people won't be able to survive if they are employees of these places and aren't making the money. If only our government would/could give them some assistance to get through this because otherwise they will be spending money on all the health care!

Some are actually happy this is happening and saying it is going to wipe out all the boomers and older people and help our economy...

please provide proof that people are happy because it will kill boomers

YT only allows inflammatory sh-t when it's said thoughtfully?

Have you not read any comments or forums at places other than YT? Yes, there are some people commenting that they think this will wipe out enough people (older people) to improve the economy. Step outside of this forum and go read...you can find it on reddit, on youtube...it is just other people's opinions.

It is not MY opinion...remember I have a mother in a nursing home and an older husband and am pretty worried for both of them. Just sayin'. I know YT just loves to twist words...

She's just echoing what the experts say; if you want to stop exponential spreading of the virus you need to have every infected person NOT infect more than one other person. If you take an average of 3 people getting infected by one patient (I'm not sure where that number comes from but that's apparently their scenario) you'd need 2 of these people to already be immune to get down to the one new infection. And as there is no vaccination yet, 2 out of three means 66% having gained immunity by going through actual infection.

The problem is that you could be infected but not show any symptoms. So you could pass it on while not knowing you have it.

The virus has a 6 day period if incubation, but you are much more contagious when symptoms emerge.
2 months ago - Thursday 3/12/20 - 1:27:56 PM EST (GMT-5)
I thought it was the opposite- - most contagious before symptoms emerge.
2 months ago - Thursday 3/12/20 - 1:36:47 PM EST (GMT-5)
You are contagious before symptoms but even more so after since the virus spread through nose and cough. It’s not like smallpox.
