"Sixty-three percent of Americans support the Black Lives Matter movement and a record 69% - - the most by far in 32 years of polling - - say Black people and other minorities are denied equal treatment in the criminal justice system, two of several signs of deep changes in public attitudes on racial discrimination."

The main caveat from the study:
"These views don't necessarily translate into majority preferences on policy - - 55% oppose reducing police funding in favor of more social services, for instance, with 40% in favor. Nonetheless, this ABC News/Washington Post poll finds substantial shifts in how Americans view underlying issues of racial justice."

This is very interesting and compelling evidence of BLM's growing efficacy and societal impact.

in my simple opinion i think blm activists are garnering support for trump and the coronavirus response is garnering support for biden.

it's incredibly embarrassing and i think the question is whether it's a bad trade deal with china or an overstep on pandemic enforcement that collapses our economy for the second time in the first twenty years of the century.

What is BLM? If it’s ACAB, defunding the police, killing cops, anti-white people, CHAZ environments, riots, and looting then I’m wholeheartedly against them.

while there is overlap between the two i think most of the people who support defunding the police and ACAB people are a small but vocal minority.

i do support the laws that ban "karens" from calling the cops on minorities since it's just a waste of police resources though.

I agree in principle, but I think there might be some unintended consequences that result.

I don't like the idea of someone being in or witnessing a legitimately dangerous situation and fail to call the cops out of fear of being labeled a 'karen'.

Impossible to enforce that law since there is no precise definition of a "Karen". I'm sure there are already laws about wasting police officer's time. And I'm sure there have been plenty of Karen's throughout history that the police have had to deal with. It's not a new thing.

Surely there has to be some sense of responsibility on the caller to have enough rational sense to determine what is and is not a justified use of police resources...

People call the police/911 for all kinds of stupid stuff...

And there's no consequence?

That's something different, isn't it? That's purposeful and knowingly calling something as an emergency where one knows doesn't exist.

From the linked article:

"the intention of inducing a false belief that an emergency exists (aka, a ‘hoax call’),"

Yeah the linked article is different to this, however that principle can be applied here. As far as I am aware there isn't a ongoing problem of hysteria-based calls to the police.

Now that I'm thinking about it... I don't punishment is the best way to handle it. If anything, it is the crime-obsessed media that needs correcting.

The media does tend to be problematic at times, but hysteria based calls do happen...

"So when a woman in Waco, Texas, didn't get her McNuggets fast enough, she figured her most reasonable option was to call 911."

Now that example fits the quote from the article well. Inducing a false belief that an emergency exists.

Sad part is- - that person really thought it was an emergency...

Another obtuse truism from the resident monkey without considering the context or the consequences.

There's a reason why there isn't a Chicken Nuggets Matter movement. People don't get unfair targeted by the police because someone didn't get their chicken nuggets and the bullsh*tter in chief knows it. Once again he is just here to derail the conversation down a blind alley because that is all he ever does. Just ignore him or point out what an arse he is like the boring drunk who interrupts a conversation in a bar with something utterly pointless.
