Be A Karen for Halloween!

My downstairs neighbor...the one who is outside on her porch with her husband, smoking from dusk to dawn...has this exact hairstyle only hers is more of a platinum blonde.

I'm going to be a grim reaper with a little more colour and get a fruity drink at the bar with an umbrella. I'm calling it "death takes a holiday"

That's pretty good...

I'm debating on things like a stuffed toucan instead of a vulture, etc. Think I'll stick with black cape and scythe.

i wonder if this would count as a mask if you go to wal-mart, since they require masks. could be an interesting experiment.

I think you'd have to close its mouth which kind of defeats the purpose of dressing like a Karen, no?

On a serious note, I do wonder how Halloween will play out this year. Well, in our area it is pretty much back to normal. It seems everyone is ignoring the virus even though our numbers just went way up...

It will be sad if we cannot do Boo @ The Zoo or any trunk or treats. I may hide candy around the house and let them look for it, the same as I did with the easter eggs.

I'm kinda sad I can't hand out treat bags to the minuscule crowd of hollow wieners I get every year.

It's also on a SATURDAY.

the potential

I wrote the zoo and asked if they will have Boo @ The Zoo and they replied they are working out the details... Usually all the details are posted on their site by now, or even earlier.

I don't know. I am torn. I have heard that the zoo is actually doing a fantastic job with their safety measures. I think going to the zoo is fine since it is outdoors and you can social distance. Boo @ The Zoo is a walking trail and they have booths along the trail to stop and get treats. They could distance people out...but what worries me is all the hands over everything...handing out the treats, the door knobs and such. I am very careful not to touch my face but my husband and kids aren't.

I would definitely be worried about the same, especially with littles.

I'm putting out my carved pumpkins, turning on the porch light, and putting a bucket of candy out for people to self-serve. I'll watch all the little costumes from the porch while maintaining a safe distance.

A self-serve bucket of candy that is likely going to be Covid tainted by the end of the evening?

Probably not the best way to do it...

12 days ago - Wednesday 9/16/20 - 7:13:24 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe put candy in little baggies....that way they can grab one, bring it home, parents can take it out for them from there? Hm.
12 days ago - Wednesday 9/16/20 - 7:23:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
If they are in a single bucket/bin, one would think that kids will still touch other baggies though- - potentially spreading Covid...
12 days ago - Wednesday 9/16/20 - 7:24:58 PM EST (GMT-5)
Maybe hang one of those UV disinfecting wands/lights over the bowl?

I do this half the time, anyway, but I feel like trick or treating won't be encouraged this year or forbidden.

It's their (parents) choice whether or not they think that's safe. I'm not sitting there handing stuff out, and I don't want to do nothing.

So pretend you have no responsibility and just blame the parents if kids get sick?

Seems like an odd position to take for someone that was freaking out over people going to the McDonald's drive thru, but if it works for you...

I am thinking if they do Boo they will require masks, temp taking, and the people giving out candy will wear gloves. I don't know...we probably won't go and that may be the second saddest thing this virus has caused for us personally (seeing my mom being #1). My daughter just got the whole idea of what trick or treating is about last year. We also enjoyed trick or treating in the mall and the city walking trail.

Hey CowDung, thanks for your fake concern. Kindly go f*ck yourself with your Trump 2020 yard sign.

Fake concern? Sorry for pointing out that you 'not wanting to do nothing' will be putting people at risk. I guess some people just can't handle the truth.

F*ck off.

Yep. You're transparent as f*ck, as usual. Sorry you don't like it when people point it out.
