Being cut open before being put under for surgery.

I had a plantar wart on the bottom of my foot when I was in the army. Hurt so bad I could barely walk. F*ckface army doctor DUG it out without any type of numbing.

When I was 11 I had surgery to cut out some of the roof of my mouth and graft it below my bottom teeth. I was awake but numb for the surgery but as soon as the numbing wore off, I was in so much pain.

It may be a tie.

1. Ear infection. I have had a few in my life that were excruciating. Double ear infection in both ears. I am prone to them.

2. Gallbladder episode. Well thinking about it, this actually was second.

3. I also remember once when I was little having a pain in my side so strong that I could not stand up straight and had to slump over to walk. They thought it was my appendix and didn't trust which side I was telling them it was on...but nope, it was just constipation. I was given an enema and had nearly instant relief.

Probably a tie between tearing a tendon in my foot and getting no medical attention besides an x-ray and a possible kidney stone passing episode at home on new year's day a few years ago. I was incapacitated but it stopped eventually and I didn't follow up on it.

Honorable mentions to about 4 other situations but it is making me mad to think about them because they were when I was denied insurance coverage (pre-existing conditions exclusion times) and had to deal with some gnarly conditions without help.

More seriously, post surgery when they put back my Achille's tendon together. I waited too long for the operation.

3rd degree AC shoulder separation.

Twice.

WAY worse than knee surgeries, etc.

26 kidney stones. They're pretty painful. Mom had them too and compared them with childbirth for pain level. Dunno. Never had a baby. Thinking that'd be worse.

Head hitting windshield in car accident and neck snapping back wasn't fun but it isn't as painful as migraines.

5 different broken bones. Those hurt a bit but torn achilles tendon was worse.

I was induced and dilated up to like only four at the most but yes, that was painful. It felt like my butt was about to fall out of my ass...I wanted to stay in the bathroom on the toilet and then because of a problem I had to get whisked away for a C-section. So I can say I have experienced labor but not full on labor and not delivery and I bet the delivery "ring of fire" is terrible...

Not really painful, but the scariest moment of my life, I fell down my spiral staircase and was paralyzed for about a half hour. I have no idea how or what exactly happened but I couldn’t not move and only screamed and cried. Then suddenly I got up and walked.

There was also another time that is really embarrassing, but I was in so much pain on the toilet and passed out. I think it might have been a kidney stone? I was sweating and dizzy.

Also, there was a time as a kid that I was beat up by my dad and he slammed my head on my headboard repeatedly and I literally saw stars just like in cartoons. I passed out.

I hade “mothers thumb” after my second was born and it was really terrible. Coupled with really bad carpal tunnel and complete loss of feeling in my fingertips.

Everything is better now, but it was really scary not being able to write, feel cold or hot with fingers, and the pain never stopped, even while on percocets.

Right now my back hurts, I might have pulled something while doing spring cleaning and hauling out old toys/clothing tubs. Nothing is helping and it hurts to sit upright and walk, kinda a bummer.

(But all I can think about is, what if it’s my lungs? What if my lungs are hurting? What if I’m sick?)

Oh my goodness, pf. Poor you. That must have been terrifying with the stairs.

Also I knew you had a poo time of childhood but reading that made me feel so angry for you.
