I’m not going away anymore. I’ve mentioned it a couple of times now but my family had planned on going to St. John with everyone for a week in an air bnb.

We were planning on going during the restrictions being placed in NY. We were planning on going when they shut down schools and bars and movie theaters. The deciding factor to not go was when St Thomas started making restrictions. Particularly ferry services that would have possibly left us stranded on one island or the other.

So at first it was a relief because I wasn’t waiting for the axe to fall but now it’s setting in that I really was looking forward to the trip.

I’m just not taking time off now.

And oh yeah. I forgot to mention that in my email to HR. I sent an email about an HSA and a 401k but was supposed to also mention that I’m cancelling my vacation time. I guess I’ll just reply I’d they reply.

I canceled a work trip this week and a European vacation trip next week.

Work trip was a good cancel because the guys I was supposed to be working with ended up with flulike symptoms and were not allowed into the building. It would have been a wasted trip.

The air bnb fully reimbursed the reservation which they weren’t obligated to do. My parents are still trying to track down someone on the phone to reimburse the flights. Apparently they are receiving a high volume of calls.

I wonder why?

Work has been relatively normal. Kind of slow. People don’t seem to be terribly worried about it. My boss was worried on Monday when I said we were still trying to go on vacation. He said I might have to self quarantine after traveling.

I’ve heard from two people that people are talking about a 1000 dollar stimulus to each citizen. That sounds impossible. My mom said she heard that Trump wanted to make it 2000. I’d get my muffler fixed if I was still working.

I’m not sure if they’ll close manufacturing. NY has the highest number of cases the last time I heard. We’re probably one of the more likely states to see measures like Italy or China taking place. I know both of those countries shut down manufacturing prior to mandatory self quarantine.

I’m listening to punk music in my car recently. It feels very appropriate.

If you are still working, you don't really need the stimulus. My husband is still working so I feel wrong to take it...I feel like the money should only go to those who are laid off right now. Let's face it...$1K won't go far and won't even pay a lot of people's rent. So if we, the people who are still working, can not take it and let the ones who need it get it, then they will get more money.

I like money, though.

I like money, too. But honestly I would just feel guilty if I took it while others are in worse situations.

That is why I asked how they will determine who gets it...and I heard if you make less than $150,000 you'd get it.

Well I make less than a third of that so I think I fall into that category.

I am also wondering if they do somehow give it, will that mean they will give less of a tax return?
13 days ago - Wednesday 3/18/20 - 2:06:35 PM EST (GMT-5)
I actually have a question.

Should I still be going to my grandmother’s to do chores? Both my grandmother and my aunt are at risk because of age and health problems. I was thinking I could maybe just go straight to the barn and not go inside. Either way I’m going to avoid just going and visiting. Try and just be there long enough to do chores/bring up wood/take out garbage.

Is even doing that going to be dangerous?

My aunt says that she’s going out to the store and doctor’s visits still. She told me not to worry about it.

I already got my tax return.

I mean I guess they can come and take it back when they come and take the guns I don’t have.

I mean the tax return for this year that we will be getting back next year...

Although, they are also talking about a tax holiday. That means not taking taxes out of paychecks, right?

The ones who need the help are the ones who aren't working and cannot get unemployment.

It's likely going to be similar to the stimulus checks given out in 2008...

I remember getting one but the amount was so low I forgot how much it was

Buying a thermometer tomorrow. Freaking myself out doing palm to the forehead checks.

Mine hasn't gone over 97.9 this whole time. I'll convert it to Fahrenheit next week.

Mine was 97.9 on Monday.

And in case anyone was wondering I’m not eligible for a 401k until July.

A method that will carry through to the future...

Aunt had an extra thermometer. Temperature was 96.8. Maybe not terribly accurate but definitely not running above normal. It might be the effect of smoking a cigarette in warmer temperatures that’s confusing me.
12 days ago - Thursday 3/19/20 - 1:17:57 PM EST (GMT-5)
My aunt also said that during my visit today I respected all the guidelines.

Lol, I read a report about how a lady does rectal exams on her kids because she doesn't trust forehead or ear readings. I'd hate to be her child

Hope she doesn't use the ear thermometer back there...
