I’m essential!

Just got word that my company is considered 'essential'. We won't be closing during the pandemic.

I don't think there are any plans to cut staffing levels even temporarily.

We’re fighting a war we can’t win.

They hate us. We hate them.

We can’t win.

No way!

Am I the only NY person who’s active on the site?

We’re nearing Italy level quarantine measures.

theBSR is a NY person, but he hasn't been around much lately.
2 months ago - Sunday 3/22/20 - 9:27:02 PM EST (GMT-5)
He’s actually NYC even. That’s the only reason the number of cases are so high in NY. It’s still relatively low numbers outside of the city.

Well, the democrats put a wrench into the stimulus package and now it seems they are back to square one.

I’m not concerned. With most of the quality dept on furlough I’m supposed to be getting overtime.

I thought they were supposed to have more issues passing it in the house. I’m kind of surprised it didn’t pass the senate. Rand Paul and a couple other Republican Senators were self quarantining. But I think they needed 60 votes anyway. I don’t know why.

Yes, and they should have. It was a corporate giveaway with very little accountability, not a bill that actually protects workers.

What corporation were they giving away?

2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 11:18:34 AM EST (GMT-5)
...and I'm not sure what 'accountability' to which you refer. The stimulus plan to for giving money to people/families making under a certain income.

Go read up on what was actually in the bill, instead of asking others to do your research for you, thanks.

Like I saw someone else say...Pelosi would see our country burn just to be queen of the ashes.

That isn't what is happening here. Please educate yourself on why every single democrat torpedoed this bill instead of repeating someone else's misinformed knee-jerk reaction.

The people who need money need it NOW. They need to work on getting the money to them ASAP and their political agenda/pissing contests about the corporations and such can come later. There are going to fiddly fart around until there start to be riots and chaos.

People will remember this come November...the democrats just shot themselves in the foot.

Hard disagree with you there.

Trump's administration is the one that made all the cuts to the departments that would respond to pandemics and also, he was calling it a "HOAX" as recently as two months ago.

I had a frank discussion with my mother, who doesn't even like Trump, yesterday because she was starting to feel sorry for him at the daily pressers. I told her that a lot of people are mad at him and rightly so.

No one forces you to run for president and it's a big job.

He had all the money he could possibly need, he decided he wanted the power, too.

No sympathy from me.
2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 2:01:03 PM EST (GMT-5)
I agree that Trump did not do enough at first. I don't think anyone in our country really started taking it seriously until a few weeks ago. But there are people who have been out of work for a week or two now, whatever time that have worked two or three part time jobs to make ends meet. Now, their part time status makes them uneligible for unemployment. They need the money. The people need to come before the corporations, yes, but they need to move forward with helping the people immediately and play their games later.

In other words, what I am trying to say here is separate the issues...let them figure out who they are sending to and how much and then bail out the others. Put people first.
2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 2:09:52 PM EST (GMT-5)
People who've actually bothered to learn the facts about the bill that was shot down will not be angry with Democrats for doing it. They will understand that the GOP bill was a disaster that basically gave Mnuchin carte blanche to give bailouts to businesses with almost no oversight or requirements for transparency.
2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 2:13:53 PM EST (GMT-5)
I don't care about that BS. If you understand what I am saying it is that they need to go forth with HELPING THE PEOPLE...THE PEOPLE...THE PEOPLE...and argue about the corporations, businesses, whatever later. There are PEOPLE who are running out of money! Separate the issues!
2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 2:16:44 PM EST (GMT-5)
The issues are NOT SEPARATE, and what I've said is not BS. It's not my fault you don't understand what the bill did and didn't do.
2 months ago - Monday 3/23/20 - 2:20:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
It needs to be separate. People are going to get fed up and rise against...they are going to create riots and chaos when people start going hungry.
