I was pleasantly surprised yesterday when I went into the stores. People were finally practicing social distancing...so if one person was in an aisle, the other would stand and wait for them to finish before proceeding down the aisle. I only had a problem once in the juice aisle when some 20 something year old girl got her grapefruit juice then proceeded to look down at her phone and start texting. Ain't nobody got time for that! Move out of the way so I can get my kiddo's apple juice!

Also despite it being a pretty, and warm day (most people like warm, I do not) there was much less traffic out for it being a Saturday. Looks like people are finally taking this seriously.

I had a dream that basically everyone I knew was dying. Particularly my grandmother and my aunt. I’m worried for them.
2 months ago - Sunday 3/29/20 - 7:17:14 PM EST (GMT-5)
Are they staying inside?
2 months ago - Sunday 3/29/20 - 7:58:54 PM EST (GMT-5)
They are. My aunt is going out from time to time. Doctors and groceries. At the moment there’s not a ton of cases in this area.

We had an otherwise healthy 24 year old die here. Yikes.

So I figured out while talking to my brother after not taking my meds that transcendentalism and Emerson are what I hate the most about America.

What did Ralph Waldo ever do to you?

Maybe you should stick to taking your meds, amaq.

No one ever got transcendental to Lake and Palmer.

No really your ideas, your “essence”, they stay right between your ears. Forget Whitman and his big bearded God man of antiquity. Enlightened thought established a greater understanding than spooky mysticism about our spirit as a whole being interwoven throughout the universe. It was detrimental to the arts because we’re now promised that we’re all movers and shakers and we can ebb and flow in infinite expression. Tangible reality and our experience within it is significant enough and affords much greater truths. Bite me fascists.

I didn’t read Emerson actually but I read Thoreau and Whitman. I know that Emerson was supposed to be the philosophical counterpart.

Goddammit. Now the internet is telling me that Kant was transcendental? That’s impossible.

It’s mystic nonsense about being in and of the world.

Opposite of what Kant was saying when he said we are philosophically separate from the world. Appealing to the shadow of reason through which we perceive. And giving that internal gift greater credence than what’s around us which we cannot fully understand.

I need to read Fear and Trembling is what I have to read.

I've not really read any of the three.

Try reading Lao-Tzu instead.

Someone else was telling me to read Journey to the West.

I didn’t read anything out of Asia. Read some South American and African literature. What’s wrong with Aesop’s Fables and Calvinism?

The only Asian philosophy guy that I've read is Thich Nhat Hanh.

I generally just read regular books- - working my way through Murakami's 1Q84...

I should add that to my read list

Work has been going well. Kind of. I’m staying busy throughout the shift. I’m not dealing with the grumpy third shift lady.

That might be a big part of work going better actually. Third shift lady really was just a daily dose of pessimism. I’m still finding myself getting frustrated but she’s not coming in at the end of the night trying to pacify my frustration with stories of everything being sh*t and caring about stuff is for losers.

She’s not really quite like that. I think she actually feels bad for me. She lets me know that if things aren’t going the way they’re supposed to it’s due to several clerical shortcomings within the company. I just want to do my best and help as much as I can though.

I was supposed to go see Bright Eyes in June also.

We’ll see if that happens I guess.

My aunt’s in the hospital.

Not good news from the doctor’s.

It’s not corona virus. But that’s today’s actual news.

Very surreal.

I have a good relationship with my psychiatrist but thanks for asking.

I hope your aunt will be OK. We have to remember that other medical problems don't just magically disappear because of this virus.
