I have a ham bone and some hand. I want to make a soup because multiple people tell me that’s what you can do with ham bones. But I honestly don’t know how to start.

I k ow I could google this and get a blog post. But I’d much rather take the aggregate response if there even is a response in this rather defunct site. In recent days at least.

I’m thinking just split peas, ham bone, bag of frozen vegetables, some amount of water. Turn on slow cook. Come home and stir and consume. Please tell me if I am living in a falsehood concerning ham bones.

But I’ve actually expanded my wheelhouse in the cooking department. Not a ton. But my eggs have cheese on them now. And I’m making rice and vegetables and then making fried rice with the leftovers.

But I guess after this post I’ll just bite the bull dick and google ham bone soup crock pot magic quick food meal easy go time fun stuff..

If there’s a blogpost that published their cookbook I kind of want to buy it and burn it. That’s my reaction to the internet telling me to buy a bay leaf.

If you have the split peas, you might not need the frozen vegetables.

I've never tried the slow cooker for it though.

You may need to thicken it before consuming- - I generally make a flour and water mixture and stir it in.

Make sure you cut up the hand and put it in the soup as well.

Trying to use pinto beans.

Won’t let me upload a photo.

Baby stew doesn't sound all that great...

It’s hearty. A lot of beans but bean soup is usually pretty beany.

I’m thinking soy sauce in individual servings can notch up the salt if necessary,

Maybe just salt and pepper.

The soy sauce is a little overpowering.

Two containers left though. Should be able to ride it out till Friday.

Also the vegetables were totally not mush. Which was a definite bonus. Those carrots were almost the star of the show.

i think i've determined soy sauce in small doses. i looked it up and soy sauce in ham soup for salt is recommended in some recipes so i'm not just a wackadoo.

but yeah i'll be eating this for a while. so if anyone has any more recommendations as to what i should do with or where i should put my ham bone please acknowledge they will be promptly ignored due to the fact the the ham bone is in the garbage, the ham is in the soup, and the beans are simply outnumbering all of it.

i do have more beans though. even though i just stated the current abundance.

i have around two pounds of beans. and plenty of rice.

really good rice and beans recipe would be killer. i would eat that for days as well with no questions asked.

but blah blah blah. the site appears to be under siege yet again.

You can get low sodium soy sauce at the store, also, if you need to dial down the salt a bit.

I like a good been soup. I generally end up putting kolbossi in it instead of a ham bone though.

Never soy sauce.

Exorcist Soup! If you need clarification on what that is, message me. Then again, you might not want to eat it when I do.

Pasta e fagioli from Olive Garden! Now that is a delicious soup...

Zupa Tisconi or whatever.

Why all the demonic possession and fagioli talk.

In my serving last night I just tempered it with soy sauce and it wasn’t overpowering. I have bullion but I think it’s beef. And now there’s so little left that soy sauce is the way to go.

I’ve become a big fan of soy sauce in recent months.

Zupa Tisconi is just sausage kale potato soup. There is no soup of Tuscany. I would much rather eat a whopper or a Big Mac rather than go to Olive Garden.

But whatever.

There.

Hats what it looked like.
23 days ago - Thursday 5/7/20 - 3:13:49 PM EST (GMT-5)
I would have cut the long beans and carrots smaller, but it looks good.
23 days ago - Thursday 5/7/20 - 3:23:22 PM EST (GMT-5)
Meat, tomato, pasta, carrots, a few varieties of beans, what else? And the garlic breadsticks.

And it’s all gone.

Burp.
