There is too much homework this week. Two of my classes are supposed to be on campus. I think because they are online, it has created extra work. I am having to draw things and type out a lot of things into Word.

In one class, I have to finish up drawing either eight or ten subjects which will take at least an hour. Then I have the weekly quiz AND a long exam.

In another class, I have to write out an outline for a speech and reply to some discussions. I think I also have a quiz in it and I have to finish reading the chapters.

And my math teacher is scolding me again for being behind.

I did wrap up the other class work at least.

The problem is that there are some chores I want and need to do.

Care to share anything on your *to-do* list?

Oh, I totally understand. This move to online classes have messed me UP.
I'm in Math for Liberal Arts majors. Which is basically everything up to intermediate algebra. Its the one class I have been dreading the most, because I have always been disgustingly awful at math. Another reason I chose in person classes, was because the teacher was RIGHT THERE, and thankfully, I got lucky with a really nice and understanding teacher. (Found out he's also like a chairman in the math department or something. Really cool guy.) But now that's gone, and this class has been 'roided up since the online move, and I'm just, quietly drowning.

I need to clean my house. I haven't cleaned it in two weeks.
I haven't washed my hair in a month. (I did rainbow highlights because I was bored, and didn't want the colors to fade) so I need to wash my hair.
I need to make this Mothers Day cake.

Just....ugh.

What’s intermediate algebra?

I didn’t do a math degree but in college we started with Calc then some stats. I’m now wishing I’d done more including matrix algebra.

(Also is be interested to hear how moving online is going because it’s going to stay at least partially that at for a while. What works? What doesn’t?)

Doing science classes online is odd. We aren't doing the hands on stuff, so we are having to draw the stuff.

It is so weird like one week all my classes will be lite, then the next, BAM, overloaded with assignments!

Yeah science classes online are super difficult. A lot of it is almost necessarily hands-on. I mean plenty of stuff you can do with computer simulations. But a lot you just can’t. I have no idea how to do that well.

It's basically like linear equations, permutations, interest formulas, loan formulas, truth tables. This week is measures of central tendency and combinations. One of the things our professor said that we will not be doing Quadratic equations, which we cheered about.
He totally said nothing about Linear equations and graphing. Which I have always always always struggled with.

What kind of stuff are you guys drawing?
Do you happen to be in speech class, btw? You said you had to write an outline for a speech.

At the moment, I am drawing tissues that are supposed to be looked at under microscope slides.

And yes, I am in a public speaking class! It is the last of my English-related classes.

At least you can name the math you are doing. I get so confused I don't even remember the topic names.

What are some good topics for informational speech?

Horses

I agree. Best kind of topic for an informational speech is something you know really well and are passionate about.

But part of our scoring is that it is appropriate for our audience, which is our classmates. I don't think that is very interesting for them.

Everyone likes horses!
19 days ago - Monday 5/11/20 - 6:55:39 PM EST (GMT-5)
Well, they should, but have you ever run across the weirdos that are deathly afraid of them?

I mean, I get being cautious of a large animal if you're not used to them, but I've seen some pretty out there comments about them being terrifying/evil/etc.

Why wouldn't it be? Are they mostly city people, or do you think most of them have been around horses and would not be anything new or interesting for them?

I don't know.

And then there are the groups who go to the dinner shows featuring horses (like Stampede or Medieval Times) and complain about the "smell" of the horses. And I would give anything to smell horses right now. LOL

Also the speech length is 4-6 minutes so I don't know which topic to narrow down to that.

I want to go to Medieval Times, tbh.

I went to Stampede a couple times as a kid and it was fun.

I think you could do a really interesting 4-6 minutes on the various smells of horses and no one would forget it!

I'm also secretly hoping it's like this:

is that genghis khan?

I actually could. There is the leather smell, the barn dust smell, the smell of hay, the smell of manure, the smell of horse sweat, the peppermint breath smell (my favorite, horses love peppermints!), the smell of mud, the chemical smell of flyspray, the smell of giving a horse a bath (smells like a spa day), the smell of grass, the nasty smell of hot shoeing (burned hoof smell), the smell of thrush (oh no!), the smell of when the barn cat pees on your favorite saddle pad, the molasses smell of the sweet feed, smell of corn, various smells of the supplements you can feed your horse (like garlic, smells like Italian restaurant, or there is one that has sea minerals which smells like the sea-life), apples/carrots

We went to Medieval Times at Myrtle Beach. It was a cheesy show but the horses were gorgeous. I believe they use Andalusians and some Friesans as well. Very magical breeds. The food was pretty good, also. Go if you get a chance! It is worth it at least once.
